Why Are Artists Quitting Music?

Updated: Oct 24, 2023

Dark days are upon artists struggling to make lasting careers out of their music, as the number of those quitting is skyrocketing. Why is this happening? Widespread opinion amongst the artist community suggests that there is no money in the music industry for artists, as labels, streaming, and distribution companies suck their lives financially. But is this the truth? Do other options not exist for artists to succeed in music with sustainable income? We believe so; maybe you will too after hearing us out.

It's no secret that the music industry design is to fill the pockets of those who run it, and if artists play their game, they must play by their rules. We also see artists who play the game lose and become outraged at the results. These events are usually the result of poor legal representation, lack of business intelligence, and the artists' unpreparedness to handle business in the first place. The worst part of the scenario is when artists from previous generations, media outlets, and influencers within the industry take out their frustrations on the businesses that pretty much told them what they were going to do upfront. We are not condoning shady business ethics, but more so shedding light on an arrangement that both parties initially agreed on. So what's the solution? Instead of changing a system already set in stone, a new one needs to emerge.

The amount of artists withering in the wind is astounding, as millions subject themselves to the only resources they are told exist.
